What is the difference between Bioclear®️ and traditional porcelain veneers?

Bioclear® and porcelain veneers can eliminate a lot of the same smile concerns, such as:

  • Gaps between teeth
  • Chipped or broken teeth
  • Tooth size discrepancies
  • Black triangles between teeth
  • Restores worn teeth
  • Improves smile symmetry

However, there are several ways in which veneers and Bioclear differ. Here's what you should know.

Understanding the Comparison

Porcelain veneers are thin layers of ceramic porcelain that Dr. Do customizes to fit over the front surface of your tooth. To achieve a seamless, flush fit, she has to remove a small amount of tooth enamel. Because of this, they're considered a permanent option for tooth replacement.

Bioclear doesn't require the removal of much, if any, natural tooth structure, since it wraps around the entire tooth.

Veneers may also need replacement over time due to normal wear and tear. Bioclear is easy to repair since the restoration is made from composite resin.

Porcelain veneers are made in a dental lab, which takes longer. They require two appointments and 2-3 weeks to complete, whereas Dr. Do can typically complete Bioclear in one appointment.

Porcelain veneers also tend to be more expensive than Bioclear treatment.
