How Do I Know if My Child Needs Treatment?
When you bring your child to our office for a consultation, we’ll ask you about your child’s sleep habits and any signs of airway or developmental issues.
Then, we’ll conduct a thorough examination of their jaws, teeth, and facial structure, assessing their airway and checking their bite.
We’ll take any necessary x-rays before creating a treatment plan that may include the following phases:
- First phase — Your child will wear the Habit Corrector® appliance at night when they’re sleeping. It’s designed like a pacifier, and most children adjust quickly.
- Second phase — Once they’re used to the Habit Corrector, they will receive a custom appliance designed specifically for their mouth. It expands your child’s arches so their teeth can erupt properly.
- Final phase — Once your child has at least four permanent teeth, they’ll wear a device to accommodate the formation of their adult teeth. This appliance ensures their teeth erupt as they should.
